Plumbers
Marketing for plumbers
You pull a customer out of a flooded kitchen at 11pm. You should not also be writing Facebook captions. Send Mitch a photo and a line about the job, and the post is written before you are back in the van.
A burst pipe does not wait for a quote comparison. The customer searches "emergency plumber near me", looks at the first few results, and rings one. The firms near the top have recent reviews and a profile that looks busy. If yours does not, they never knew you were an option.
Most of the plumbing marketing advice around is aimed at firms with a marketing person. You have a van, a phone and a day that does not end at five. This page is for that.
What gets in the way
The review never gets asked for
You fix the leak, the customer is relieved, and you are off to the next call. Nobody texts them for a review, so the job that should have won you the next one leaves no trace online.
A burst pipe at 7am goes to the map
Someone with water coming through the ceiling rings one of the top three. Those three have recent reviews and a profile that looks active.
The agency report you never read
A monthly PDF of charts and a stock photo of a tap every fortnight. None of it showed a single job you had done.
The page went quiet in March
You are under a sink all day. The Facebook page has not posted since spring, and a customer checking you out wonders if you are still trading.
A job, start to finish
Take a made-up firm, Hollis Plumbing and Heating in Nottingham. Dave swaps a leaking cylinder in a semi in West Bridgford and takes two photos in the airing cupboard, old and new. From the van he types: "Replaced a corroded 120 litre cylinder, new unvented, tidied the pipework, done by 3."
A minute later Mitch has a Facebook post and an Instagram post that mention the cylinder, the area and the finish. Dave reads them, changes one line, and approves. On the Local plan the same job puts a Google post on his profile, and two days later the homeowner gets a text asking for a review. When a review comes in, Mitch drafts a reply that mentions the cylinder rather than a generic thank you.
The kind of job note that works
How Mitch handles it
Posts from the job you just did
Send the photo and a line, by typing or by voice. Mitch writes the Facebook and Instagram posts and puts them in your calendar. You approve before anything goes out.
A busy-looking Google profile
On Local, each job also becomes a Google Business Profile post, so the profile people see on the map shows recent work in your area.
Plan: On the Local plan
Review requests go to the customer 24 to 72 hours after the job, replies to new reviews are drafted for you, and comments and messages land in one inbox. Local is £149 a month.
Your own site working harder
Plumbing searches like "boiler repair in Derby" are won by pages about that. On Complete, a WordPress plugin fixes on-page SEO and a new blog page goes up every week, using your jobs as the source.
Plan: On the Complete plan
Adds on-page SEO fixes, the WordPress plugin, a new blog page every week and local rank tracking. Complete is £349 a month and needs a WordPress site.
Plumbers and lead sites
Checkatrade, MyBuilder and Bark are where some plumbers get enquiries. Many lead sites charge per lead or a monthly fee, whether or not the job comes to you, so the enquiries last as long as the payments. What Mitch builds sits on your own profile and site.
