Website SEO
SEO for tradesmen on your WordPress site
Install the getmitch plugin on your WordPress site. The Complete plan covers on-page SEO fixes, a new blog page every week and local rank tracking in the towns you cover.
Chances are the site went live some years back and has barely changed. Plumbing gets one paragraph and a phone number. There is no blog and nothing new since launch.
Nor can you check rankings from a ladder, so the first sign of a slip is quieter phones.
Why a decent-looking site gets nowhere
"The site cost me a fortune and does nothing." Many tradesmen's sites look fine but are missing the basics Google reads: page titles, headings, service and town wording. It is slow, fiddly work that never reaches the top of the list on a busy week.
A site that never changes also gives Google little reason to look again.
What the Complete plan adds
On-page fixes
Mitch works on the pages you already have, through a plugin on your WordPress site. No rebuild, no new domain.
One new blog page a week
Each page targets a service or a question people near you type into Google.
Rank tracking for your patch
Watch where you appear for the searches that bring jobs in the towns you cover, and whether that is improving.
Still tied to your jobs
Complete includes everything in Local and Social, so Facebook, Instagram and Google posts keep coming from the work you send in.

From a real account: DCD Developments
For DCD Developments, a building firm in the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean and Monmouthshire, Mitch built a grid of 8 services across 12 areas, 96 pairs in all, and compared it with the pages on DCD's website. As of October 2026, 33 pairs were covered by a page and 63 were missing. Each missing pair gets a ranking plan with steps.
The biggest plans by monthly searches were:
- builder in Gloucestershire (140)
- builder in Abergavenny (90)
- builder in Ross-on-Wye (70)
- construction company in Gloucestershire (70)
- builder in Monmouth (50)
The on-page fixes wait for approval too. One pending change rewrites the title tag on the underfloor heating page to "Underfloor Heating Systems | DCD Monmouthshire".
To be straight about it: as of October 2026, DCD is not yet in the map pack for those searches. It is early, and we are not claiming any ranking gains. What the account shows is the work being mapped and queued, which is the part Mitch does.

A heating engineer in Sheffield
Neil Parkin runs a heating and plumbing firm in Sheffield (a made-up example). A friend built his WordPress site in 2019: a single services page, no blog. After installing the plugin and moving onto Complete, he tracks searches like "boiler service Sheffield" and the same phrases for Dronfield and Hathersage. The on-page fixes and the weekly pages come with the plan.
Limits worth knowing
Nobody can guarantee rankings, and Mitch makes no such promise. It also needs WordPress; a site on Wix or Squarespace cannot use the plugin. Citation building, ads and page speed monitoring are not part of it.
More background is in the local SEO blog. If your Google profile still needs sorting, Google Business Profile is often the faster win and is included from Local.
