Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile management for tradies

Every job you send in can become a Google Business Profile post with your best photo and the suburb. Someone checking you out on Maps sees this month's work, not a listing left alone since 2021.

Plenty of tradies claimed their Google listing years ago and haven't opened it since. The newest photo is the logo. The Posts section has nothing in it. Reviews sit without answers.

Now think about the customer. A burst pipe on a Saturday, a search for "plumber near me", three businesses on a map. They open each one. The listing with recent jobs and replied-to reviews looks like a business that will pick up. The other two feel like a gamble.

Why it never gets done

It is one more login, one more thing to type, at the end of a day that already ran long. And what do you write? "Quality service at competitive prices" says nothing. "Replaced a split system compressor in Mooloolaba this morning" tells a local what you do and where.

How Mitch handles it

A post from each job

Mitch picks the strongest photo from the job and writes a short post about the work and the suburb.

Posts Mitch generated from one submitted job, including the Google Business Profile post

One submission, several channels

There is no Google login. The post comes from the same job you sent in for Facebook and Instagram, and everything lands on the content calendar.

Review replies drafted

Mitch drafts a reply to every review, good or bad, so none sit for months. You read it and approve.

What it leaves to you

Posts are one part of a profile. Categories, service areas, opening hours and photos are the rest, and you set those. Mitch keeps the activity going so the listing never looks abandoned. For a full walkthrough, see the Google Business Profile blog.

Example job

Here is a made-up example. Shaun is a gas fitter in Perth with one ute and an apprentice. He replaces a failed hot water unit at a house in Scarborough, photographs the new unit and the tempering valve, then sends it in with a voice note: "Gas hot water replacement, new tempering valve, old unit taken away."

By the time he has started the ute there are drafts. The Google one is built on the install photo and names Scarborough. Shaun changes "unit" to "continuous flow system", approves it and schedules it for the next morning. When a review lands later in the week, a reply draft is waiting for him to read at smoko.

Next steps

An active profile is easier to trust, and reviews are what make it persuasive, so pair this with review requests. If Facebook has gone quiet too, that is social media.

Questions answered

Is Google My Business the same as Google Business Profile?
Yes, it was renamed. Plenty of people still use the old name. It is the listing that shows on Maps and in search results.
How often will it post?
Once per job you send in, scheduled on your content calendar. A busy fortnight means a busy profile, and a quiet one does not leave you scrambling.
Does it make things up?
It writes from your photo, your note and the suburb. Nothing publishes until you approve it. Mitch does not check licences or claims in the note, so what you say is what it says.
Will it set up or repair my listing?
No. It writes and schedules posts and drafts review replies. Claiming, verifying, rebuilding and suspensions stay with you and Google.
Do I approve review replies?
Yes. Each one is a draft until you edit or approve it.
Is this the same as my hipages or True Local profile?
No. Those are separate directories with their own fees. This is your own Google listing, where most "near me" searches finish.
Which plans?
Local and Complete.
